Overview of podcast styles: Deep Dive, Brief, Critique, Debate

Style Overview

1) Deep Dive

Long form, structured explorations that unpack concepts with definitions, context, and supporting examples. Ideal for tutorials, research summaries, and knowledge transfer.

  • Recommended length: 10 minutes to 3 hours
  • Best for: in-depth analysis, how‑tos, technical topics

2) Brief

Fast, high signal summaries designed for quick consumption. Perfect for updates, standups, and executive overviews.

  • Recommended length: about 1 to 2 minutes
  • Best for: highlights, daily recaps, quick briefs

3) Critique

Expert review and evaluation of a source. Surfaces strengths, weaknesses, assumptions, and actionable recommendations.

  • Recommended length: 3 to 8 minutes
  • Best for: content reviews, product feedback, peer assessment

4) Debate

A structured back‑and‑forth between two AI voices to explore opposing viewpoints and tradeoffs.

  • Recommended length: 5 to 12 minutes
  • Best for: policy, strategy, controversial or multi‑stakeholder topics

Practical Guidance

For Deep Dive, outline clear sections such as introduction, definitions, worked examples, and caveats so the episode flows logically. For Brief, share bullet points and a target duration to keep the summary tight. For Critique, include evaluation criteria or target audience to focus the analysis. For Debate, define each position and assign one to each voice so the exchange stays grounded and useful.
