Turn an article into a podcast
Drop in any article and the API produces an audio version — useful for news desks expanding to audio, content aggregators offering "listen" buttons, and individual readers building personal listen-later queues from articles they cannot get to during the day.
How it works
- Step 1Submit your article
Send the article to the AutoContent API as a URL, file upload, or pasted text. The API accepts most public sources directly and supports authenticated uploads for private content.
- Step 2Pick your tone and voices
Choose from 50+ AI voices and a handful of presets that shape pacing, formality, and length. Defaults work for most use cases — tweak when the AI podcast is heading somewhere brand-sensitive.
- Step 3Receive your AI podcast
Generation typically completes in under five minutes. The API returns the finished AI podcast plus a transcript, share URL, and metadata you can plug into your existing distribution stack.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with paywalled articles?
The API processes the text you submit. For paywalled articles, paste the body from your authenticated session — the API does not bypass paywalls.
Can it preserve a journalist's byline and citation style?
Yes — bylines and inline attributions stay intact. The audio version reads "according to [source]" in the spots a print article would.
How is this different from a TTS reader app?
Standard TTS reads the article verbatim in a single voice. The API generates a discussion-style podcast that compresses and explains rather than just reading aloud.
